History & Culture

From well before the days of the slave trade, Africans have contributed to every facet of society by means of literature, art, agricultural skills, foods, music, and language to every culture.

Even before the onset and the abolition of slavery and apartheid, Africans were known for their cultural ingenuity. Although in many cases they were literally forced to adopt and mimic the traditions of others African slaves would still clandestinely practice their beliefs or take the beliefs of those in power over them and make them their own.

Today, perhaps the most definitive form of African culture can be seen through their expression of the musical art form, printed or painted art and the history of various clans and tribes. Exploring African culture and tradition is just one of the many pieces of Africa.
